Today is the Drug Enforcement Agencies nationwide drug takeback day, and in Dallas County there will be a couple of events.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office will be giving residents a chance to safely dispose of any unneeded medications from 10am until 2pm on Saturday at the Sheriff’s Office on Thin Blue Line Lane in Adel.The Sheriff’s Office will also accept vape pens for disposal without the battery but they won’t take needles or liquids. People will not have to exit their vehicle to participate in this event.
The Perry Police Department will be taking part in the activities with an event taking place today from 10 am to 2 pm. at the Perry Police Department for people to drop off any expired or unwanted prescription and over the counter medications. No inhalers or needles are to be accepted.
The Perry Police Department participates in the program twice a year in the spring and in the fall and it helps keep those medications away from those who may misuse them and out of the landfills. Also, you do not need to remove the labels from the bottles.
