The public is invited to a new event that is happening later this week in Jefferson.

The Fine Arts Festival is taking place at 6pm Friday at the Greene County High School Auditorium. Darren Jackson is one of the organizers and says performers will be state individual speech and the all-state speech students. Jackson explains why he feels it’s important for people to support the fine arts, along with the speech students.

“I think it’s absolutely important to see what our young people in Jefferson are doing and how talented they are, to really see this sort of art that Jefferson has a reputation of, and to see that it is continuing in our young people too. And just to help support these young people. They really do shine when they’re in front of an audience.”

Jackson adds there will also be a variety of art pieces on display in the commons area as well. The event is free and open to the public. See the list below of the students that will be performing.
