(L-R): Autumn Consier and Bailey Anderson

This is National Student Leadership Week and two Paton-Churdan High School students exemplify what it means to be a leader.

Senior Bailey Anderson is the co-captain of the high school volleyball and basketball teams, along with being involved in track, National Honor Society, speech, the spring play, student and is the vice president of the Greenbrier 4-H Club. She talks about why she wanted to be in her current role as vice president of her 4-H club.

“Well I felt like that was a role that like I could take on since I’m one of the older people in the club. I felt like it was a role that I could handle.”

Autumn Consier is also a senior and is in National Honor Society, student council president, the spring play, and participated in individual and large group speech. Both students also mentored the third graders and are excited whenever one of them sees them in the hallways and will give the seniors a hug. Consier describes what being a leader means to her in K-12 building.

“That you’re being a good role model because at any given moment there are elementary kids looking up to you, and there are middle school kids who they know who you are. If they see you as setting a good example, you hope that they take that and they themselves treat others the way you treat people. And so just making sure and (being) aware that you are not alone and so setting an example of what you want other people to act like.”

National Student Leadership Week is April 24th-28th.
