There aren’t many bills left in Iowa’s House of Representatives with the legislation session about to end.

District 23 Representative Ray Sorensen says that for the last week-and-a-half, the majority of bills have been budget related. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a group of some of those bills and some others have made their way back from the other chamber, and how the House covers them.

“Some of them are bouncers that are bills that have already passed the House and then the Senate amended them so they’re bouncing back so we won’t be able to bring up that entire bill. What happens when they bounce is we only bring up that amended piece and vote on that amended piece since it’s already passed the House and so that’s how we’ll handle those bills. But there’s a pretty big calendar so you can go on to legis.iowa.gov and just go to the House and click on tentative debate calendar.”

Sorensen mentions that the House committees have been working closely with their Senate counterparts to get finished. He adds that April 28th was the originally scheduled end of session, but it looks like the legislative chambers may be done by the end of this week.
