Monday, May 8th

12:51am: While on patrol an Officer found an unsecured business door in the 1800 block of North Elm Street. The Officer found nothing suspicious and notified an employee of the issue.

1:46am: While on patrol an Officer found an unsecured business door in the 500 block of East Gallup Road. The Officer found nothing suspicious and secured the door.

2:14am: While on patrol an Officer found an unsecured business door in the 600 block of East Lincoln Way. The Officer found nothing suspicious and secured the door.

9:19am: At the request of the Des Moines Airport Approach Control, an Officer was dispatched to the Jefferson Airport to see if an airplane had arrived. The Officer located the airplane and advised the Des Monies airport of this.

11:05am: A manager with Hy-Vee spoke with an Officer in reference to an insufficient funds check the store had received. The Officer is investigating.

12:27pm: Justin Murphy of Jefferson reported parking violations occurring near the intersection of West Park Street and South Elm Street. The Officer is investigating the complaint.

3:50pm: The Officer received a report of an assault having occurred at the Greene County Middle School involving minors. The Officer is investigating.

4:19pm: Cindy Rowland of Jefferson reported a stray dog in the 900 block of North Pinet Street. The Officer picked up the stray and took it to the Animal Shelter.

4:19pm: Mike Molle of Jefferson reported a verbal disagreement between himself and his father. The Officer helped mediate the situation.

7:10pm: Emma Lank of Jefferson reported having been involved in a motor vehicle accident with a moped at the intersection of North Locust Street and East Washington Street. The Jefferson Police Department, Jefferson Fire Department, and Greene County Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. The Officer’s investigation found a 2006 Nissan Altima, owned by Jacob Eischeid and driven by Emma Lank, both of Jefferson, was traveling westbound on East Washington Street. A 2011 Bronco Moped, owned by Darin Rothfus and driven by a juvenile male, both of Jefferson, was traveling southbound on South Locust Street. The vehicles arrived at the intersection at approximately the same time. The juvenile failed to obey a Yield sign and entered the path of Lank. The vehicles collided within the intersection. Damage to the moped was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the Altima was estimated at $4,000. The juvenile was transported to the hospital by the Greene County Ambulance.

9:20pm: An Employee for Sparky’s One Stop reported a suspected shoplifter had just left the store on a bicycle. The Officer responded and did not locate the suspect on the bicycle. The Officer is investigating.
