The Fiber Festival of Perry is coming up this weekend and it will bring some entertainment for those all around the local area.

The Atelier at 1109’s Fiber Festival of Perry will run from 10am until 4pmon Saturday and will take place at various places including vendors and explore the world of fiber art. There will be 14 vendors inside of the La Poste, Soumas Court and Hotel Pattee selling items like yarn, spinning wheels, drop spindles and other fiber items. Fiber Festival Committee Member Ashley Anderson says they cast a wide net for this year’s event.

“For Perry specifically, we try to focus on Iowa-based artists or Iowa-based fiber. We’re actually bringing in some people from Des Moines. I think the furthest out we went was like the Mason City area. They’re coming in, but we’re trying to focus on fiber art as an art form instead of focusing on just painting and anything else that you’re used to hearing about. We’re bringing in everything to do with fiber and textiles.”

Atelier at 1109 artists have decorated lightposts in downtown Perry with hand knit wrappings and people can also see the yarn bomb located on 2nd Street. For any questions about the event you can go or a map click here.
