A controlled burn got out of control Tuesday that destroyed a barn near Scranton.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy, along with the Scranton, Ralston and Glidden Fire Departments responded to the structure fire at 12:50pm in the 1100 block of C Avenue. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the empty barn was a total loss from the fire, but no one was hurt in the incident.

Williams notes the cause of the fire was from a controlled burn that the individual doing the burn who thought the fire was out.
