The Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department has a new piece of equipment.
County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the department purchased a tractor to help with roadside mowing. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how they came to decide on getting the new tractor.
“We can come in and mow real tight and cut down on a lot of those sod issues. So we saw a need there, and the contract was ending. So just a few things fell into place, and I think it’s time that we do this and bring this in house. So that’s what drove it.”
Sebern explains that they also purchased a piece of equipment that can be dragged behind the tractor, so it can be used in lieu of a motor grader, especially when gravel roads are too wet for the graders.
