Nevada and Greene County met Tuesday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference high school soccer with the girls playing in Jefferson and the boys at Nevada. The Cubs won both games by shutout.

The boys’ contest was for the HOIAC title and matched up the Class 2A number 5 and 6 teams in the state. The fifth ranked Cubs won by a 3-0 final to improve to 12-4 while the Rams fell to 10-4 and Coach Carl Behne’s team was shut out for the first time this season and they’ve now dropped three of their last four, all to rated teams. After a scoreless first half, Nevada scored their three goals within the first 17 minutes of half number two. Among the highlights of the contest for the Rams was a diving save to his right by goal keeper Gabe Ebersole on a penalty kick.
