Demolition of Harrison RV

If you haven’t driven on north Highway 4 in Jefferson for the last few days, there’s been some development with one commercial property.

Harrison RV recently closed its doors and a new company purchased the land and is already making progress. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer says the property was purchased and a new Dollar Tree will be built. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the new owners were issued a demolition permit through the city and he describes what the city’s role will be moving forward.

“Any kind of private development is that we’ll issue our building permits and monitor the construction of it. Any new construction is automatically qualified for three year tax abatement. But otherwise there’s been no asking for any further economic development tools.”

Palmer shares his thoughts about Jefferson getting a Dollar Tree.

“Well competition is always good. As people can see over the last 10-15 years since the overpass has been built, Highway 4 north of that is really starting to develop more into retail type of use. You go up and down and look at that corridor and this is just another piece that’s in there. I think because of the commerce of the hardware store (Ace) and Fareway it’s going to be a nice addition to that area.”

According to the Greene County Recorder’s Office, the land was purchased on April 25th by Jefferson Development Group from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
