Adair County 4-H members will need to hurry if they’re ordering broiler chicks.

The Adair County Extension is ordering the chicks through Nodaway Ag, but final orders will be turned in at 5pm Monday. 4-Hers will need to pay $2 per chick and order 10-25 chicks. The anticipated pick up date for the birds is at the end of May, and the Extension will contact each 4-H member that got birds to let them know when their order is ready for pick up.

The Extension reminds those that will be presenting the birds to practice thorough cleanliness and health safety by always washing hands before and after handling birds, changing clothing and footwear between farms, keeping visitors to a minimum and immediately reporting sick birds to a veterinarian.
