Greene County is the top seed in Class 2A Boys Soccer Substate 7. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams are 10-4 and have a first round postseason bye. The Rams will play on May 22 vs. the winner of the May 15 first round contest in Huxley between Ballard and Panorama. Chariton is the two seed in Substate 7 and they also have a first round bye. The Clarke (Osceola) vs. Creston winner meets Chariton in the semifinal round.

Carl Behne is the head coach of the Rams and he told Raccoon Valley Radio this is the first time the Rams have been a number one seed in the postseason. Greene County qualified for Class 1A State tournaments in 2019 and ’21 as a two seed both years. This is the first time the Iowa High School Athletic Association has had four classes of boys soccer and Greene County is in Class 2A for the first time.

Nevada and Perry, from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference like Greene County, are also top seeds in 2A Substates 6 and 8 respectively.

Greene County girls play in Wall Lake on Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in a Class 1A Region 6 play-in contest. The winner meets top seed Gilbert at Gilbert on May 17 at 7 p.m.
