Greene County hosted Class 2A boys’ Substate 7 semifinal soccer on Monday night for the first time at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The Rams, the number one seed in Substate 7, won 7-2 vs. Ballard (Huxley) to improve to 12-4 on the season while the Bombers close out their campaign at 5-11. Greene County plays in the Substate final tomorrow night at 7 at Linduska Field vs. Chariton with a trip to the State Tournament in Des Moines next week on the line. Chariton is 12-2 after a 4-0 Monday night victory over Clarke (Osceola) and the Chargers are the number two seed in Substate 7.

The Rams built a 6-0 halftime lead vs. Ballard en route to the second victory vs. the Bombers this season in as many meetings. Gesser Gutierres and Bork Ersness each scored two goals and the Rams had one goal apiece from Kolby Angell, Jose Velazco, and Jack Hansen.

Perry and Carroll met at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Linduska Field with the Blue Jays winning that Substate 8 semifinal by a 10-0 score.
