Perry junior Maci Tunink tossed a two hit shutout Monday night in Jewell, as the Jayettes started the season with a 5-0 conference road win over South Hamilton.  The right hander was impressive from the start, allowing only three baserunners while striking out 12 batters in the Heart of Iowa opener.

Perry opened the scoring in the top of the third inning on a RBI single by Emmalee Bell, scoring Ava Devilbliss-Sholley.  Perry added another run in the fourth inning when Kalley Whelchel  was brought in on a suicide squeeze bunt by senior Kathryn West.

The Jayettes put the game away in the fifth inning with three more runs as  both Taylor Atwell and Sidney Barkley delivered RBI’s.

Devilbliss-Sholley reached base three times while Taylor Atwell added two hits.

Perry starts the year 1-0 and will travel to West Marshall Wednesday night.
