The Perry Chamber of Commerce is excited to get their weekly farmers market going.
Chamber Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti says that their summer farmers market will start this week and run until late September from 4 to 7pm every Thursday in downtown Perry. The market will sell anything that involves locally grown produce, baked goods and hand crafted items. Chamber Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti says this market will go on for 18 weeks and it not only gives vendors a chance to sell their products, but community members to get out and about.
“The farmers market for the community brings a lot of different components together. Obviously the access to locally grown foods, a platform for sellers to sell their products, whether it’s baked goods, jams and jellies, those vegetables and fruits, then also handcrafted items. And then it’s also a platform for our community organizations to get out in front of the community and engage with what’s going on.”
Pasutti says the market is certified SNAP, EBT and Double Up Food Bucks. She also mentions that there will be food trucks onsite for anyone looking for a quick meal. Additionally, during the event, 2nd Street will be closed to through traffic between Willis Avenue and Warford Street and people will be encouraged to park on the street or at the City parking lots.
