Several Greene County High School seniors were recently announced as scholarship recipients from the Greene County Medical Center.

Six graduates were chosen from the Greene County Medical Center Foundation and three from the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary, for a total of $9,000. Each recipient must be enrolled in a healthcare-related career in their post secondary education plans. The six recipients from the foundation included Jesse Miller of Scranton, who plans to attend the University of South Dakota for radiology; Avery Walker of Jefferson, who is attending Iowa Lakes Community College for nursing; and Sammantha Borkowski of Jefferson, who is going to Des Moines Area Community College for nursing. 

The three other foundation scholarship recipients were Gretchen Davis of Jefferson, who is going to attend Mercy College of Health Science for nursing; Sadie Gilbertson of Jefferson, who is pursuing a nursing career and will attend Iowa Central Community College in the fall; and Morgan Stricker of Jefferson, who is attending ICCC for radiology. 

The three scholarship recipients from the auxiliary included Gilbertson, Ellie Madson of Jefferson, who is a 2020 graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s degree in public health. She is going into a graduate program at U of I for occupational and environmental health. Finally, Hannah Promes of Jefferson, who has a bachelor’s degree in human performance and fitness and is currently studying for a doctorate degree in occupational therapy at Drake University.
