A non-profit organization will raise money for victims or survivors of domestic assault.

The Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Center will hold a garage and bake sale from 8am until 7pm on Thursday and Friday and from 8 to 2pm on Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Adel. Prevention Coordinator Hannah Vander Kopsa says that this is their 12th annual garage and bake sale where they sell stuff like house wear, clothing, furniture and also baked pastries. She explains how this fundraiser allows them to keep serving the community.

“All these proceeds are going to direct services for survivors. So things like helping us change somebody’s locks if they need, or helping pay somebody’s rent if they had to relocate, helping a family travel to and from something related to the crime. So if they needed to get to a hospital or if they needed to get to a bus station or something like that. So these funds that we raise, they’re so needed.”

The Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Center provides a free 24/7  direct service to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, dating violence, violent crimes and homelessness. If you or someone you know needs their services, you can call their hotline at 800-400-4884.
