Davenport Assumption defeated Perry 2-0 Tuesday afternoon in the opening round of the 2023 Iowa High School state soccer championships.  The defending champions opened the scoring a little more than six minutes into the game when Charlie Lienert beat Luis Castro off a deflection for a goal.  The Knights added a second half goal on a 50 yard free kick from midfield.

Assumption outshot Perry 11-7.  Davenport Assumption moves into the semi’s Thursday while Perry closes out the season 11-8.
