The Dallas County Extension and Outreach Office will have a few different summer programs available for kids.

There are two programs, with registrations open now, that includes Books n’ Cooks Day Camp at the Dallas County Extension Office in Adel from 9am to 3pm on June 27th for children in grades fifth through seventh. Regional Director Ann Torbret tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is a great program for any child that wants to improve their reading and writing proficiency while enjoying homemade food.

Books for Cooks is just like it sounds. We’re going to do some literacy. Read some great books and cook some food featured in the books. That camp is June 27th and it is here at the Extension Office. So you get to try out our great kitchen and our wonderful meeting room space.”

Additionally, the second summer youth program will be called the “Magic Treehouse Adventure,” which takes place from 9am to 3pm at the Dallas County Extension Office in Adel for kids in grades third through fifth on August 1st. This program will feature activities that coincide with the “Magic Treehouse,” book series. Space is limited at each of these summer day camps and parents must register their children a week prior to the program happening. Registration will take place on their website.
