The Jefferson Public Library has kicked off its Adult Summer Reading Program.

Library Director Jane Millard says the program is from June 5th-August 23rd with this year’s theme of “We’re All Tied Together,” which she tells Raccoon Valley Radio this isn’t a new theme.

“It’s actually a theme that we’ve explored before. But we don’t think that you can study this one too many times because what we do affects other people. We want to make a positive change in the world, so this is kind of a nice thing to focus on this summer.

Millard says participants can read at least three books, complete nine activities, along with attending some special programs. She adds this theme is pretty open-ended.

“About anything you can think of will help you learn about someone else’s adversity that they may have overcome (or) a kind act that they have shared. Any kind of book that you would like to read should fall into this category.”

There will be a final party for participants on August 23rd and any adult wanting to join the Summer Reading Program will receive a packet. Registrations are ongoing at the library and you can click here sign up.
