The Perry Chamber of Commerce is excited about their public safety themed evening at the farmers market coming up this week.

“Public Safety Night,” will bring local first responders in Dallas County like the Perry Police and Fire Departments, Dallas County Emergency Management Agency and the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, among others. People can stop by from 4 to 7pm on Thursday at the Josh Davis Plaza in Perry to learn more about those who protect the local communities. Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio this is an event they look forward to.

A way for us to get out and meet some of the people. We’ll show off some of our equipment, our police cars and some of the equipment we use every day. And it’s just a good chance for people to talk with us, meet us, ask us questions you know, that they might not be able to on a day to day basis. So it’s just a good, good chance for us to interact with the public.”

Those who plan on attending are reminded that 2nd Street between Willis Avenue and Warford Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Parking will be available at the Perry Public Library, Caboose Park, and the City lot on the northeast corner of 1st and Warford Streets.
