After four days off the Greene County softball team is back on the diamond tonight in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play tonight in Jefferson vs. South Hamilton. The Rams were 10-1 winners vs. the Hawks in Jewell in their first  meeting in late May. Some schedules may show this as a road game, but it’s at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway because the first contest was moved to Jewell because of home Substate soccer in Jefferson that night.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is coming of their biggest win of the season, a 5-1 victory in Des Moines vs. Saydel on June 7. The Eagles were undefeated prior to hosting the Rams and went from number 3 in Class 3A to their current number 7 ranking. The Rams are 6-1 in the HOIAC and 9-4 overall while SH is 0-8 in conference games and 2-12 overall with six losses in a row. The Hawks have allowed at least 10 runs to every opponent during the losing streak.
