Perry Baseball Loses Wild, High Scoring Game Monday Night

It was a late night for the Perry baseball team Monday as the Bluejays fell to PCM 13-12 in eight innings of Heart of Iowa action.  The game wrapped up a little past ten and Perry arrived back in town a few minutes before midnight.  The Bluejays jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead only to see PCM rally and score 12 unanswered runs.  The Mustangs sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven times in the decisive 5th inning.

However, Perry battled back with a pair of runs over the final three innings to send the game to extra innings tied at 12.

Perry finished the night with 15 hits offensively to go along with seven base on balls.  Gavin Hegstrom led the offense with a four hit night including his first triple of the season.  Fausto Beato continued to lead the Heart of Iowa in hitting with another three hit performance.  Drake Levan, Owen Myers, and Geren Kenney all had two hits each.  Kenney, Beato and Hernandez led the team with 2 RBI’s each.

Kaelan Davis tossed 4 2/3 allowing eight earned runs off nine hits and five walks.  Owen Myers and Fausto Beato pitched out of the bullpen.

Perry falls to 4-13 while PCM keeps their championship hopes alive improving to 9-2 in Heart of Iowa action.  The Bluejays return home tonight to face Carroll.  You can listen to the game on KDLS.
