West Marshall (State Center) completed a two-game Heart of Iowa Activities Conference sweep of Greene County with a 14-3 seven inning victory vs. the Rams at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on Monday night. The Trojans improved to 11-1 in the conference and 19-5 overall while the Rams are now 1-10 in league play and 2-14 on the season. The Trojans led by 12-3 after six innings before losing by 11 runs. Matthew Hovick took the pitching loss and was relived by Gavyn Winters. Brayden Roberts doubled for the lone extra base hit for the Rams, who were out hit 17-4. Camden Jacobs singled and eighth grader Jaren Jacobs picked up his first two varsity hits in a reserve role. Greene County was charged with four errors to WM’s one error.
The Rams are home at Allensworth Field again tonight with non-conference opponent Manson-Northwest Webster. Air time on KG98 is shortly after 7 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.
