There are a couple of important dates for Greene County youth who are showing livestock at this year’s county fair.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says Saturday is Clover Kids Day at the Greene County Fairgrounds. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio all Clover Kids that are showing cattle, birds and bunnies, lambs, goats and puppies are invited to come during their designated time to get their animals used to the fairgrounds. Check the list below for the specific times for animals to be at the fairgrounds.
“It’s not required for you to attend this. However, I highly, highly encourage it. Animals are going to be completely different when they get to the fairgrounds. And having those youngsters we want them to be as comfortable and as safe as possible. So having them attend this and get to know what they’re going to expect to do and what’s going to be expected of them and their animals is extremely important.”
Hardaway adds poultry pullorum and rabbit tattooing are also happening at the fairgrounds on Saturday from noon-5pm and Sunday from 1-5pm. The poultry pullorum is for Clover Kids, 4-H and FFA’ers, while the rabbit tattooing is just for 4-H and FFA.
