The second of two high school baseball regular season meetings between Greene County and Perry took place at Walt Anderson Field in Rippey on Wednesday night. It was Perry’s home game and the Blue Jays won by a 3-2 score in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play to improve to 6-13 overall and 4-6 in the conference while the Rams are 1-11 in the league and 2-16 overall.
The Blue Jays swept the two conference games from the Rams this season and they led 3-0 before the Rams scored two runs with two outs in the seventh inning to make it a one run game. A ground out ended the game and the rally came up one run short. Losing pitcher Noah Hinote allowed just one hit, but two unearned runs were the difference.
The Rams are off tonight before hosting Carroll High in non-conference action on Senior Night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson Friday at 7:30 p.m. Like the Rams, the Tigers have had difficulty getting wins this season.
