Both the West Central Valley baseball and softball teams picked up big shutout wins on the road in Guthrie Center on Tuesday night against ACGC. The baseball team defeated the Chargers 2-0. West Central Valley took that 2-0 lead early in the 3rd and hung on the rest of the way. It was a defensive battle on the diamond for both teams. Only 9 combined hits were allowed by both squads on the night. But enough credit couldn’t be given to the pitchers on both sides of the ball as they both combined for 17 strikeouts on the evening. Landon Osberg had 8 for West Central Valley in 6 innings pitched, while Brock Littler had 9 in 7 innings pitched for the ACGC Chargers. The win moves West Central Valley to 16-10, while the loss brings ACGC to 7-15. The Wildcats winning streak now stands at 4 as they look to make it 5 going into their matchup with Southeast Warren tonight in Southeast Warren. First pitch is at 7:30.
The West Central Valley softball team also shut out the ACGC Chargers last night on the road, winning 6-0. Zoey Dickson and Lillian Gilbert had big nights for the Wildcats as they both had 2 hits and drove in at least 1 run. West Central Valley also extends their win streak to 3. Both baseball and softball teams are red hot at the moment. Softball will be traveling to East Union tonight to take on the Eagles. That game’s first pitch is set for 7 PM.
