The Greene County high school baseball season ended with a 3-20 record and we look today at the defense. The team as a whole had little in the way of varsity experience with the exception of only a player or two. As a result, the Rams had 78 errors in 23 games, or three per game. Those errors translated into 70 unearned runs, nearly three runs per game.

Head coach Kyle Stalder knew going into the season there would be growing pains, but he’s confident that if the players with eligibility for 2024 and beyond stick with it, the Rams will improve in all areas, including defense. At times, the Rams fielded the ball well, but didn’t throw accurately. At other times, the ball wasn’t fielded cleanly, but the coach did see areas of improvement as the season went on.

Among the defensive highlights in 2023 was senior catcher Brayden Roberts throwing out 15 base runners, ranking high among all Class 3A players.
