She may be in her first year as the Guthrie County Attorney, but Dana Minteer is looking forward to what her office can do to improve and help the county.
Minteer says that one of the things moving forward that they are working on is better utilizing the electronic search warrant more often. She mentions that it is something fairly new, and that mainly urban counties use it, but that her office has started to use it more often, and that it has been a great asset. Minteer tells Raccoon Valley Radio another area that members of her office are growing.
“We are also sort of in the process of expanding our collections program. That is something that is harder for more rural counties to maintain, it’s just a very in depth, time consuming process.”
Minteer explains that as the collections program grows, they’ll start expanding into garnishments to make sure residents with fines pay their financial obligations to the county. While this sounds bad for those residents, making sure they pay the fines on time keeps them from having their drivers license suspended or from being unable to register their vehicle. Growing the collections program also provides another revenue source for the county.
