A new music artist is coming to the Greene County Fair tomorrow as part of the grandstand entertainment.
Ashley Barron was born in northern California and went to Nashville, Tennessee to become a professional artist nine years ago. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio she was inspired to go to Nashville by her hometown radio station and from there her career started to take shape.
“And then I started writing songs and meeting with different co-writers, which honest to God I did not think that was something I wanted to do, but once I started writing I just honestly found I just couldn’t stop. And we ended up writing an album’s worth of songs and we got into the recording studio and had a lot of fun recording and had a lot of fun recording my debut album, that is out right now just self-titled, ‘Ashely Barron.’”
Barron says her style of music is a combination of southern rock and traditional country, both of which she grew up on. Barron describes one song that carries a lot of personal meaning.
“I definitely think the one song from my album that is very, very dear to my heart is my song called, ‘Call Her Mama.’ I wrote that specifically for my mom right before she passed away almost three years ago now. We kind of make it a very big feeling song. I dedicate it honestly to all moms out there because it’s not easy being a mom.”
Barron adds that she is excited to perform at the Greene County Fair and enjoys doing live shows and has lots of opportunities for audience participation. Barron will be the opening act for the main show of country-western artist Chad Brock. Saturday night’s grandstand begins at 7pm with $10 admission and those three and younger are free.
