Children old enough to stay at home alone will have an opportunity to learn some things in a fun program by the Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
On July 20th, the Extension will be hosting another round of On Their Own and Ok from 9am to 3pm. The class aims to teach children how to express their feelings on being home alone, create healthy snacks and meals, and practice decision making in emergencies. K-12 Coordinator Meghan McBride mentions that some of the other skills that will be taught are how to identify appropriate activities in down time and guidelines for privacy, personal and online safety.
The class costs $10, and will be held at the Guthrie County Extension office.
