Despite there being no thunderstorm warnings, an early Wednesday morning storm caused some issues in Jefferson.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams initially reported that the heavy rainfall and at times strong wind gusts knocked power out for the west side of Jefferson and the law enforcement center and the county jail were under generator power. There were also severe street flooding. He said the storm also caused cell phone disruption.

Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan said the liftstations on the west side of town were also without power and had to use generators until they were fully functioning again. He pointed out there were about ten different areas that had large tree limbs partially blocking the roadways. Morlan reminded residents that any tree storm debris can be taken to the yard waste dump site at Daubendiek Park. Later that day, everything returned to normal.
