The 2020 Perry Downtown Improvement Project is close to completion, but there is a delay in the construction.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says they are reconstructing Bateman Street along with Rawson, 3rd and 4th Streets with a new asphalt surface along with other improvements. Peterson explains that they are waiting on Lumen Technologies to move some of their infrastructure that conflicts with the project design to put in a storm sewer drain. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Mayor John Andorf asked Lumen Technologies to be present at their city council meeting in July, but they never showed up.

So it’s going to be interesting seeing how it goes, getting them back on site to finish this project out. So, but we’ll work through all of that. Just disappointed in Lumen and they’re just totally blowing off the council meeting, even though they were requested to be there by the mayor. So we’ll work through that. But just other than that, that project has gone really great. We have a really awesome contractor, Crow River Construction.”

Peterson adds that Lumen Technologies have been incurring liquidated damages since July 1st. He hopes that they will restart work on the project by the end of the month.
