Winterset women’s softball is headed to the State Finals for the second year in a row after an outstanding performance in the semifinals against Ft. Dodge Dodgers. The Huskies were able to change the narrative of the game after trailing during the first two innings. A pitcher change from Molly Breeding to Brynn Acton, and a homerun from Jena Young in the third inning shifted the momentum to the game in favor of the Huskies as the cut the lead by one, 2-3. Displaying hard work, teamwork, and perseverance. Allowing them to secure a spot in the highly anticipated class 4A state finals for women’s softball in the heart of Iowa.

Coach Steve Corkrean had this to say about his well fought Huskie seniors, “we got some seniors that want to do what we did last year and they lead the way. They want to get back up here and now that they are back here they want to make some noise”. The community’s unwavering support adds to their motivation as they prepare to face other top contenders in the State Finals. Win or lose, the Winterset Huskies has already made their city proud and inspired aspiring athletes.

The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown as the Huskies will play North Scott at 7:30 p.m. today at Krugers Field located in Roger Harlan sports complex in Ft. Dodge – a tale of triumph, resilience, and the unbreakable bond of a team looking to win it all for the second year in a row.
