The City of Adel is preparing for their 44th annual Sweet Corn Festival that comes in the middle of August. 

Adel Chamber of Commerce President Deb Bengston says that they are excited that Deardorff Sweet Corn has their 6.5 tons of sweet corn ready for the festival. Bengston also notes that they have over 90 vendors registered, and 20 of those serve food. Bengston tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is a change to their elite sponsor, who will be Iowa Spring this year. She mentions how valuable it is to have community help when putting together the Sweet Corn Festival this year. 

“I will tell you, this event cannot happen without these sponsorships. We have over $34,000 worth of expenses to put on the Sweet Corn Festival. And so every one of these sponsors is very, very important to us. But Iowa’s spring is even more important. We’re so proud that they’re in our community and have been great community supporters for many years. So we’re excited to have them as our elite sponsor this year.”

The Adel Sweet Corn Festival will last from August 12th through the 13th.
