Registration is close to ending to join Dallas County’s Master Conservationist Program.
ISU Extension and Outreach Master Conservation Coordinator Megan Will says that attendees will have to register by tomorrow to participate in this six week program that starts on August 1st at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. Will adds they will meet once a week from 6 to 8:30pm on Thursdays to discuss the history and opportunities for conservation in Iowa while highlighting Iowa’s landform, forest, prairies, wetlands and rivers. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the program pairs in-person demonstrations and discussions led by local experts and online, as well as self-paced lessons from Iowa State University experts.
“We walk through prairies, walk through a river, you’re out there and you’re really learning from experts in our area. So from people from Dallas County Conservation Board or I think you meant IDAL (Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship), so people in the field, retired people who’ve been doing it. So you’re really learning the different Iowa conservation projects that are going on and even how to do some conservation in your own yard.”
The cost of the program is $95 and that includes all materials. The last class will be on September 7th.
