Things are slowing down a little bit for the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library now that the Summer Reading Program has concluded.

Library Director Jerri Hawkins says that there is still plenty to do though. She explains that for special events, the library will be having a magic show on August 7th at 1pm, with the Between the Covers Book Club to meet on the 8th to go over their current book, “The German Wife” by Kelly Rimmer. Hawkins tells Raccoon Valley Radio about what to expect the next day.

“And then on Wednesday, August 9th, we have our third Lunch and Learn series. So this is a new program that we’ve started here with having different topics at our Lunch and Learn. It’s a free light lunch to be served, we just need people to preregister to come to these events so we know how much lunch to have for everybody.”

This month’s Lunch and Learn will be from noon to 1pm, and will have employees from Hospice of the Midwest as the guest speakers, to talk about hospice care and answer any questions that attendees may have about it.
