The Perry School District recently started a program to help student athletes improve in their activity.

Activities Director Katelyn Whelchel says that they started a program called “ETS Performance,” or Englebert Training Systems which is a program that looks to improve student athletes in grades third through 11th with speed, power and development. Whelchel is encouraged with the number of students taking advantage of the professional help.

“We’ve seen great participation numbers, especially with our middle school and our youth students. And we’ve seen a lot of kids consistently getting in the weight room and putting in a lot of work this summer. And we’re excited to continue to see the growth of ETSs here in Perry as well, but also watching our kids grow on the court (and) in the field as we get rolling into fall activities here in a couple of weeks and starting to see some of the benefits.”

Whelchel says that they are still finalizing how the ETS Performance program will work once school is in session. She notes more than likely the program will rely on coaches scheduling training sessions for their athletes.
