The community building at the Dallas County Fairgrounds was packed Saturday night for Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird’s first Big Barn Bash.
The fundraiser event included a pie auction and a meal before Bird spoke to the crowd. She highlighted some of her accomplishments since taking office at the beginning of the year. Bird said she joined the multiple state lawsuit against the Biden Administration for canceling student debt, along with working on the fetal heartbeat law that is currently with the state supreme court, among others.

Then the headline speaker closed out the event with Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He talked about some of the things he promised he will do if elected President of the United States, including reversing all of President Joe Biden’s executive orders and energy policies to make the US energy independent. He also promised to keep China out of purchasing farmland in the US, stop illegal individuals from crossing the southern border with Mexico and holding the Mexican drug cartel accountable for the carnage that is happening in the US. DeSantis ended his speech with a warning if Democratic “leftist” continue to run the country.
“If woke ideology is able to take hold of the government and all the other major institutions of this country, it’s going to destroy this country. There’s not one city, one state that is governed by leftist politicians wielding leftist ideology that has been successful. They are hurting their people and they are causing these societies to collapse. We made Florida the state where woke goes to die (and) as President, we’ll ensure to leave the woke agenda in the dustbin of history.”
DeSantis is one of several candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination.
