There will be a golf tournament to raise money and remember the life of Trent Miner in Perry this weekend.
The 17th annual Trent Miner Memorial Golf Tournament will call on all golfers from every age to come out to the Perry Golf and Country Club on Sunday. There will be a chance for parents or guardians to play with their child at 10am and other adults or teenagers will tee off at 1pm. Each child under 14-years-old will play for the cost of $15 and those older than 14 will pay $30. Organizer Joelle Miner says this tournament is to remember their son who died from brain cancer and loved golf. Miner notes that all proceeds will be spread out to the Trent Miner Scholarship Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the CaringBridge non-profit organization.
“(Trent Miner) had just graduated. Everything that goes with that and graduating and receiving scholarships that help kids was something we know was really valuable. So designated that as one of them. Then we had a Caringbridge (web)site for him and I didn’t know about it in the beginning of his journey with this brain cancer, but I got it going towards the end of it and it was just such a fabulous way to get information out about what was going on with his journey. Then the third one was Make-A-Wish, which we had been granted to make a wish early in the process of his journey. We had all gone as a family to Hawaii.”
Miner mentions that the golfers with the price of admission will get lunch and be able to take part in the raffle prizes, silent auctions and pin prizes. People can also sign up the day of the golf tournament.
