The Greene County Relay for Life main event is happening later this month in Jefferson.
On Tuesday, August 15th the event will begin with honoring cancer survivors to arrive on the south side of the Greene County Courthouse at 4:30pm to receive a free t-shirt and treats. Then the survivors and caregivers will be walking together around 4:45pm. Next at 5pm will be a free-will donation meal with the Relay Leadership Team with a grilled meal that is donated by Jefferson Hy-Vee. The Town and Country Band will then perform a free concert at 5:30pm.
Events Leadership Team Chair Tori Riley encourages everyone to attend this event as an opportunity to remember loved ones who have passed away because of cancer, those who are still fighting cancer and survivors, while also providing funds that are needed for additional research and education of cancer.
Riley notes that anyone who can’t make it to the event on Tuesday is welcomed to make a monetary donation either online by clicking the link below or at Peoples Bank in Jefferson. An additional fundraiser is planned for December 15th.
