The Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department is planning for a project on the western side of the county.

County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the department will be working on a drainage outlet from a large farm pond on Zenith Avenue on the east side of Diamondhead Lake. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the outlet has had some problems, but they’re going to try a new method to repair it.

“It’s going to be our first project using a UV liner. So it’s a fiberglass sock that is blown inverted into the culvert, and air pressure inflates it and pushes it up against the walls of the culvert, and then a light transmits UV light goes through and it cures the fiberglass. And so it makes a very hard, durable relining of the culvert, and we don’t have to do any digging that way.”

Sebern adds that with the minimal groundwork required for the project, when the project is underway there should be little to no disruption of traffic on the road.
