The Perry Public Library calls their 2023 “All Together Now Summer Reading Program,” a success after it concluded in late July.
Youth Librarian Laura Pieper says they had 404 children sign up for the program and with that came a lot of participation. Pieper mentions that their log sheets looked a bit different this year, as they . kept track of more than the children’s reading minutes.
“They tracked lots of different things. You know, you could read for 30 minutes, you could attend a library program. You could also do chores at home, pick up litter, play games with your family, things like that. And some of the things were really fun, like, you know, just play games with your family.”
Pieper says that the most popular activity ended up being the ISU Extension and Outreach’s Insect Zoo which gathered 100 children at the library.
