The 2023 football season begins next week for the West Central Valley Wildcats. They will take on their conference rival, the Panorama Panthers to start things off on Friday, August 25th. With the season getting set to begin, I thought it would be appropriate to begin to dive in to each position group that will be taking the field for the Wildcats next week.
Beginning with the quarterback position, Nate Gerling, Aiden Clauson, Tyson Partlow, and Colton Lindsay are the 4 quarterbacks that are listed on the West Central Valley depth chart heading into 2023. As head coach Jim Lindsay previously mentioned, senior Nate Gerling will return as the starter for the Wildcats this season. Nate Gerling last year was 31 of 85 on the season, which was a 36.5 completion percentage throughout the whole season. He also threw for 530 yards, for 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, for a passer rating on 88.9. He was the main guy for the Wildcats last year, as he will look to improve his numbers for West Central Valley here going into this upcoming 2023 season. The task for Gerling will be tough as he will go up against conference rival Panorama in Week 1 next Friday. In the matchup with the Panthers last year, Gerling was 6/13 for 148 yards and 1 touchdown and interception. West Central Valley won that game 49-14. Gerling will look for a similar stat line, minus the interception, in this years matchup. The Wildcats will have their Gatorade scrimmage tommorow night as they take on the Madrid Tigers at Madrid High School.
