A Greene County artist is once again putting her talents on display at the Iowa State Fair.

For a second consecutive year, Greene County High School Art Teacher Sarah Stott was asked by Iowa Food and Family Project to paint a mural under the theme of “sustainability” and that she could use her own life experiences as inspiration. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio her inspiration was her husband’s aerial spraying business, coupled with Iowa Cover Crop as a way to display the connection between how having rich soils can produce quality crops which are then used as the foundation for food, animal feed and fuel.

Stott was pleased with how the finished painting came out. She adds that it’s fun to go through the process of coming up with an idea, then sketching it out, and finally painting the mural, which then brings the idea to life. The mural is now on display at the Varied Industries building on the state fairgrounds through Sunday.
