The Panorama School Board met in regular session Monday night.

Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that in his report, he discussed some updates to the safety implementation plan, which included updating some doors and adding some more cameras in and around the campus. The Board then discussed upcoming dates, including the kindergarten through 12th grade first day on August 23rd, a Board work session on the 24th, first day for preschool on August 28th, no school for the county fair and labor day on September 1st and 4th respectively, and the next regular Board meeting on September 11th.

Huebner tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Board Workshop will be done with the Iowa School Board Association to help get some priorities set for the district for the upcoming school year.

“We’re, you know, working on becoming a little bit more intentional with the work, and once we work through that with the IASB, and we’ll set the priorities in house, and that’s really what our work needs to be connected to. So that’s really the big thing coming up in regards to our Board. And our Board’s been very open, and they’re excited to do that work. So that way we do have a vision, and we know what our work is doing and how that’s going to benefit our students.”

Huebner mentions that all action items were approved, including consent items, the first reading of the 500 series Board policies, 2023-24 milk bids, summer extracurricular contracts and 2023-24 legal council.
