The Perry Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers Market brought attention to schools in the local area.
The Back-to-School Farmer’s Market had all the schools in Perry attend including the Perry Community School District, Des Moines Area Community College and St. Patricks Catholic School. The Perry Community School District recognized Jenny Adair as the “Teacher of the Year,” along with new teachers. There was also a band performance and students got to have popsicles and chat with the principals at the Perry Schools. DMACC and St. Patricks Catholic School representatives were on hand spreading information about their programs.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti said this event got families thinking about the transition back to school.
“It was just so nice that Josh Davis Plaza was full of community school district organizations. So the principals were there for the elementary school booster club. Like I said, the music department has been there most weeks with their fundraiser for their trips that they do. The band played. So just lots of fun things and so it’s just nice to have everyone together. But we also had DMACC and St. Pat’s. Showtime dance had registration as well.
Pasutti mentioned that Dallas County New Opportunities collected a ton of school supply donations that will be spread to students in Perry.
