There are two youth soccer programs coming up with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.
JPRD Assistant Director Nathan Kral says U6 Soccer is for any 4-5 year-olds who want to learn more about the game of soccer. U6 Soccer will be on Mondays from 5:30-6:30pm at Kelso Park from September 11th through October 2nd. The cost to participate is $20 for Greene County Community Center members and $25 for non-members. Kids will need to bring their own shin guards. The deadline to sign up is September 4th.
Kral points out U8 Soccer involves practices and games against Ogden. He says games will be on Saturdays from September 9th through 30th, with games to be played both in Jefferson and Ogden. Practices and games will be established after teams have been formed. The cost to participate is $35 for community center members and $40 for non-members. Additional fees include $20 for youth and adult jerseys, along with $5 for socks. Practices and games will be at Kelso Park. The deadline to register is Monday.
Kral talks about how well these youth soccer programs have been received in the past.
“I think the soccer programs have gone well with the younger ages. Our youth coaches have done a good job and that translates to the high school level. As you can see the past few years that they’ve had some very good teams.”
