The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

The Board heard an update from Iowa Drainage District Association Representative John Torbert. He said that IDDA was successful in redefining what responsibilities were for a railroad company to repair any drainage tile issues that are their property on bridges and culverts. He mentioned that the legislation was passed and signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds, which is now in effect.

The Board also heard an update from Summit Carbon Solutions and the underground liquid carbon dioxide pipeline project. Representative Riley Gibson said Summit has secured 92-percent of the easements in Greene County and about 73-percent of the easements statewide. He also said Summit has paid $2.2 million for the same Greene County easements and $154 million statewide. Gibson mentioned that the hearing with the Iowa Utilities Board begins on Tuesday in Fort Dodge.

The Supervisors approved the appointment of Michael Silbaugh to the County Conservation Board, set a public hearing for September 5th to sell property at 907 North Cedar Street, an alcohol license for Cloud Wine to be at Country Blessings Fall Festival next month and increase the part-time hourly wage for Randy Fox and Dan Nation to $24 per hour for the Secondary Roads Department. Finally, the Board approved hiring Abbie Warner as a full-time jailer for the sheriff’s office with a salary of $47,000 and a $1,000 increase once she is certified.
