Earlier this year the Iowa High School Athletic Association made a change to how football classifications are decided.
School districts are allowed to factor in 40-percent of their free and reduced lunch numbers to find out their BEDS numbers. With the new classification system, Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center and Panorama were dropped to the top of Class A, and are in District 7, while West Central Valley sits around the middle of Class 1A, and is in District 7.
For AC/GC and Panorama fans, other teams in Class A District 7 are Earlham, IKM-Manning, Riverside, South Central Calhoun and Southwest Valley. For West Central Valley fans, other teams in Class 1A District 7 include Grand View Christian, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, South Hamilton and Woodward-Granger. All three Guthrie County teams will be playing their first games of the season this Friday, with AC/GC hosting Ogden, and West Central Valley hosting Panorama. Both games are to begin at 7pm Friday night.
